ARL Annual Leadership Symposium (invitation only)

ARL will host its 10th Annual Leadership Symposium January 23–26, 2014, during the American Library Association (ALA) Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia. Symposium participants include master of library and information science (MLIS) students from ARL’s numerous diversity recruitment programs, including the Career Enhancement Program (CEP), the Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce (IRDW), the ARL/Music Library Association (MLA) Diversity and Inclusion Initiative (DII), and the ARL/Society of American Archivists (SAA) Mosaic Program.
The ARL Leadership Symposium curriculum focuses on topics related to the major strategic areas of ARL, as well as transitioning into, and building career networks in, research libraries and archives. The program includes presentations from ARL program officers, professionals in member libraries, and human resource professionals.
The 2014 Leadership Symposium features presentations on such topics as:
- Current Trends in Information Policy
- The Role of Special Collections in Research, Teaching, and Learning
- The Art and Science of Securing a Position in an ARL Library
