Using LibQUAL+® Effectively and Strategically: ARL to Offer Workshop Oct. 22–23 in Atlanta

libqual-arl-med-faculty-radar-chart-2012ARL will offer a workshop about acting on LibQUAL+ survey results, led by Martha Kyrillidou, ARL director of statistics and service quality programs; Lisa Hinchliffe, professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and Raynna Bowlby, ARL consultant. “Using LibQUAL+® Effectively and Strategically” will be held over two half days, October 22–23, 2013, in conjunction with the Southeastern Library Assessment Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

Library Assessment Conference 2014 to Convene August 4–6 in Seattle

seattle-skylineimage © Chris TarnawskiSave the dates August 4–6, 2014, for the next Library Assessment Conference: Building Effective, Sustainable, Practical Assessment, to be hosted in Seattle, Washington, by ARL and the University of Washington Libraries. The conference goal is to build and further a vibrant library assessment community by bringing together interested practitioners and researchers who have responsibility or interest in the broad field of library assessment. The conference provides a mix of invited speakers, contributed papers and posters, and workshops that stimulate discussion and provide workable ideas for effective, practical, and sustainable library assessment.

 
 

ARL Partners in Grant to Study Value of Academic Libraries

A grant to study the value of academic libraries to students, faculty, policymakers, funders, and others has been awarded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in collaboration with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) Libraries and the Association of Research Libraries (ARL).

 
 

Using LibQUAL+® and Other Evidence for Assessment, Evaluation, Resource Planning—ARL and CARL to Offer Workshop at EBLIP 7

This preconference session will be held on Monday, July 15, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

MINES for Libraries®: Measuring the Impact of Networked Electronic Services—Call for Participation

Measuring the Impact of Networked Electronic Services (MINES for Libraries, or MINES) is an online, transaction-based survey that collects data on user demographics and the purpose of use of e-resources. The MINES project utilizes a point-of-use survey technique and integrates usage data about such electronic resources as digital collections, open access journals, pre-print and post-print servers, and institutional repositories to provide an inclusive picture of the library’s supported networked e-resources. MINES has been administered at more than 50 North American libraries since 2003, surveying more than 100,000 networked services users.

 
 

ClimateQUAL®: Organizational Climate and Diversity Assessment—Call for Participation 2013

The online survey collects information about: (a) library staff perceptions of the organization’s commitment to the principles of diversity, (b) staff perceptions of organizational policies and procedures, and (c) staff attitudes. The survey addresses such issues as diversity, teamwork, learning, fairness, current managerial practices, and staff attitudes and beliefs.
