LibQUAL+ will award up to three institutions in-kind grants to participate in the 2014 LibQUAL+ survey, with a goal of offering one grant for every 50 libraries registered. This will be the ninth year LibQUAL+ has sponsored an in-kind grant program. There are two application deadlines for the 2014 grant program: June 14, 2013, and December 13, 2013. (The early deadline allows the LibQUAL+ team to plan for translations in new languages with an adequate planning cycle.)

ARL has issued a call for participation in the third Balanced Scorecard (BSC) Initiative cohort. The year-long initiative will engage a small number of research libraries in a systematic way to consider the benefits of applying a locally developed library scorecard. Libraries with a keen interest in continuous improvement and strategic assessment are invited to apply.
LibQUAL+ is pleased to announce that three libraries have been selected to receive in-kind grants in 2013. The selection of grantees was based on financial need, contribution to the growth of LibQUAL+, and potential for surfacing best practices in the area of library service improvements.

This webcast, held on September 18, 2012, provides potential and current participants with vital information on the MINES for Libraries® service, an online, transaction-based survey that collects data on the reasons people use electronic resources and on the demographics of users. This one-hour webcast introduces the MINES for Libraries® assessment protocol, shares the benefits and results of participation, and presents useful case studies.
SPEC Kit 330 explores the scope of accreditation standards,the data provided by research libraries to meet the requirements of accrediting bodies, and which library staff participate in preparing reports and site visits. The survey results may help libraries identify and understand what standards exist, and how their contributions lead to successful accreditation and reaccreditation for their parent institutions. Additionally, this survey sought to identify how deeply ARL libraries are involved in the accreditation process at the institutional level. As libraries strive to establish their impact and value in higher education, this measure is one way to gauge how institutional leaders perceive their libraries’ contributions. This SPEC Kit includes examples of programmatic and regional accrediting agency reports from respondents and descriptions of the accreditation process.
