Agenda for Developing E-Science in Research Libraries: Final Report and Recommendations to the Scholarly Communication Steering Committee, thePublic Policies Affecting Research Libraries Steering Committee, andthe Research, Teaching, and Learning Steering
E-science has the potential to be transformational within research libraries by impacting theiroperations, functions, and possibly even their mission. Recognizing this potential, the ARL Steering Committees for Scholarly Communication and for Research, Teaching, and Learning jointly appointed a task force in 2006 to address the emergent domain of e-science. The Joint Task Force on Library Support for E-Science focused its attention on the implications of trends ine-science for research libraries, exploring the dimensions that impact collections, services, research infrastructure, and professional development.

Purdue University Data Research Scientist [job description]
Overview of the ARL/DLF E-Science Institute
The E-Science Institute is designed to help research libraries develop a strategic) agenda for e-research support, with a particular focus on the sciences. The Institute consists of a series of interactive modules that take small teams of individuals from research libraries through a six-month process to strengthen and advance their e-research support strategy. arl-dlf-escience-inst-overview-apr11.pdf

Briefing Paper: Key Elements of the NIH Molecular Libraries Initiative - The Molecular Libraries Screening Center Network and PubChem
In order to identify those small molecules that will have the greatest effect on a disease or biological process, NIH will soon be awarding grants to a number of academic centers throughout the United States that will constitute the Molecular Libraries Screening Center Network (MLSCN). Critical to the success of this initiative and the work of the Centers is PubChem, a publicly available database that includes information about the biological activities of chemical compounds. nih-molecular-lib-initiative-08jun05.pdf
