ARL/MLA Collaboration

The LCDP has consistently attracted applicants from special libraries, including medical librarians. The Medical Library Association (MLA) shares ARL’s commitment to recruiting new professionals representing diverse backgrounds and developing diverse professionals for new leadership roles. To increase the number of participants able to be accepted into each LCDP class, and to provide the opportunity for more involvement in this strategic activity, ARL and MLA have entered into a formal partnership whereby MLA provides direct involvement of MLA staff and member leaders. MLA staff and representatives work with ARL staff and the Diversity Initiatives Working Group to recruit potential LCDP applicants and career coaches from MLA libraries.

The Medical Library Association, with funding from the National Library of Medicine, is providing funding for a scholarship to support a medical librarian in the 2007–08 LCDP class.
