Collaborating at Scale

This keynote will examine the context for collaboration and address how higher education has a responsibility to leverage institutional capacities and investments to help ensure that federally funded research publications and their source data are publicly accessible and preserved. Provost McCarty will speak to how the SHARE initiative by AAU, APLU, and ARL responds to the fundamental role of scholarship by providing public access to the intellectual assets of higher education.

Coordinating Deposit and Compliance

Implementation of the White House OSTP policy memorandum of February 22, 2013, will create more focused attention on compliance and reporting of research results. Partnerships among campus administration, research officers, and library staff can assist project investigators as they learn new procedures to comply with agency requirements. The panel will address different perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of the new federal agency requirements.

Facilitating New Forms of Discovery

Discovery of federally funded research publications and digital data is the focus of this program. The panelists will discuss possible search and discovery strategies across a potential new corpus of content, the challenges that providers have as they make this content available, and what critical next steps could be considered by various stakeholders to ensure that the new federal requirements achieve their stated purpose.
