Alonso Avila is a first-year graduate student at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois. He holds a BA in English and Spanish from Coe College. In the fall 2006 semester, he studied in Oaxaca, Mexico City, and Chiapas, and also served in Peace Corps Jordan from 2009 to 2011. Inspired by his international experiences, Alonso hopes to incorporate and expand his passion of travel and music with his library education.

A graduate of Macalester College’s art program, Cecilia Caride entered the archives field through an internship at the Walker Art Center. She is now pursuing an MSI with a preservation focus at the University of Michigan School of Information and helping to digitize music at WCBN Radio. She is interested in the intersections between libraries and archives, and in the ways that digitization can contribute to preservation and access, particularly of special collections.

Raquel Flores-Clemons is a Chicago native, LIS Access Midwest Program scholar, and MSLIS candidate at UIUC. Her background in art history has influenced her passion for archives and special collections. Raquel is interested in documenting and preserving experiences of marginalized communities, urban history, and the continuing development of hip-hop culture. She hopes to expand on her knowledge and experience managing resource centers, developing community programs, and creating exhibits as a future LIS professional.

Talía Guzmán-González is an MLS student in the iSchool at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). She is currently a visiting assistant professor of Portuguese and Latin American Studies at UMCP and holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MA from Indiana University Bloomington. Talía wants to combine her academic experience with a career in libraries in academic and research institutions. She is interested in area studies related to Latin America, international librarianship, and digital humanities.

Twanna Hodge is a first-year, master’s student in the library and information science program at the University of Washington (UW). She holds a BA in humanities from the University of the Virgin Islands, and currently works in the UW Libraries’ as a graduate reference and instruction specialist. Her interests include privacy issues, accessibility, diversity in librarianship, and advocacy, as well as preservation of cultural heritage materials.

Valarie Kingsland is a San Jose State University Circle of Learning scholar pursuing an MLIS. She has a BA in communication and psychology from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Her interests include emerging technology, multiple literacies, participatory services, the integration of archives, libraries and museums, and their contribution to community development. She is a Library of Congress Digital Preservation Outreach and Education (DPOE) trainer and is active in the Alaska Library Association, Alaska Association of School Librarians, and American Indian Association.

Bradley Kuykendall is in his first year at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is involved in several student groups such as the ALA student chapter, Special Library Association, and Black Graduate Student Association of University of Illinois. His professional background includes interning at Washington University in St. Louis, University of Pittsburgh i3 program, and working the reference desk of Lincoln University as a student worker. He is interested in the digital divide, corporate, and academic libraries.

Sofia Leung is a third-year, dual-degree master’s student in the library and information science and public administration programs at the University of Washington (UW). She holds a BA in English from Barnard College, and currently works in the UW Libraries’ Research Commons as a graduate student specialist with a focus on programming. Her interests include library management, administration, and advocacy, as well as diversity in librarianship.

His professional interests include reference and instruction, information literacy, instructional design and technology, and the digital humanities, to name a few.

Jerrod Moore is currently pursuing his MLIS at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He holds a BS in business administration with a double minor in accounting and library science from Lincoln University in Missouri. He is currently a Mix It Up Fellow in the GSLIS program at UIUC. Jerrod will be working at the University of Washington in Seattle as a summer intern, where he hopes to gain more experience in an ARL library. His interests include collection development, technology in libraries, and community informatics.

Camille Thomas is pursuing her MLIS at the Florida State University. Her areas of interest include information organization and emerging technology. She holds a BA in English from the University of Central Florida, where she studied creative writing, journalism, and women’s studies. She has experience in professional writing, academic research, and digital marketing. Camille became interested in librarianship after interning at the Orange County Library System’s Community Relations department in Orlando.

Mari Warren is a first-year MLS student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is originally from Marietta, Georgia. An alumna of Duke University, she worked in the interlibrary loan department during her undergraduate years there. She has an interest in history and African American studies and would like to work in an academic or special library on a university campus following graduation.

Alicia Yanagihara is a second-year graduate student pursuing an MLIS and a museum studies certificate at the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM). She has a BA in history with a minor in art history, and is currently working as a student assistant in the UHM Library’s Preservation Department and the Jean Charlot Collection, where she is helping to archive their collection of Mexican artwork.
