About the University of Toronto Libraries
The University of Toronto Libraries (UTL) system is the largest academic library in Canada and is ranked fourth among peer institutions in North America. The system consists of 44 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of 215 graduate programs, over 60 professional programs, and more than 700 undergraduate degree programs. In addition to more than 12 million print volumes, the library system currently provides access to millions of electronic resources in various forms and over 29,554 linear metres of archival material. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year.  The Libraries' data centre houses more than 200 servers with a storage capacity of 1.5 petabytes. 

The Opportunity
The University of Toronto Libraries seeks a creative, energetic, and forward thinking Liaison & Education Librarian to join the Education & Information Services unit at the Gerstein Science Information Centre, Canada's largest academic science and health sciences library. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Director for Education & Information Services and will work collaboratively with a team of Gerstein librarians and staff.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
*    Work with faculty to develop and embed information literacy in the Nursing curriculum and other liaison areas as required
*    Provide instruction on library resources and the research process
*    Conduct in-depth reference and research consultations with students and faculty
*    Participate in collection development and assessment activities focusing on the health sciences, liaising closely with the Coordinator, Science Collections and other collections librarians
*    Assist with systematic reviews and other knowledge syntheses in Nursing and other subject areas as required
*    Integrate assessment and principles of evidence-based practice into library instruction
*    Remain current with, and implement in practice, emerging concepts in scholarly communication, research data management, and instructional technology
*    Identify opportunities for outreach and marketing of library services, with an eye towards continuous improvement
*    Serve on library and faculty committees and working groups as necessary

Required Qualifications
1.    ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree or equivalent
2.    Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and communication skills
3.    Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and ability to innovate and adapt to a changing environment
4.    Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
5.    Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
6.    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
7.    Proven project management skills
8.    Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous learning

Preferred Qualifications
1.    Experience working in a liaison capacity in an academic health sciences library
2.    Undergraduate or graduate degree in the physical, life, health, or related sciences
3.    Demonstrated research skills and knowledge of key Nursing and/or other STEM databases and information sources
4.    Knowledge of principles of information literacy and how they can be applied in an academic setting
5.    Knowledge of collection development practices
6.    Demonstrated understanding of the scientific research process
7.    Experience in building solid relationships with faculty
8.    Experience designing, implementing, and assessing interactive learning experiences

Applicants who have nursing and/or other health sciences subject expertise, demonstrated teaching and presentation skills, knowledge of, or interest in, collection development, and who possess an understanding of research processes in the sciences are encouraged to apply.

Salary and Terms of Appointment
This is a permanent status stream appointment to be filled at the Librarian I/II, III rank. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic/professional qualifications.
