The Hesburgh Libraries is currently accepting applications for the position of Head of Interlibrary Loan and Acquisitions Services (ILLAS).
 
The Hesburgh Libraries of the University of Notre Dame seeks an experienced operational manager of electronic resource acquisitions interested in applying e-resource knowledge and staff management expertise in a broader context of resource acquisitions planning and leadership.
 
As the Head of Interlibrary Loan and Acquisitions Services (ILLAS), this professional exercises vision and leads the Libraries forward in support of resource acquisitions, regardless of format, for all purchased, leased and borrowed library resources.  The Head directs existing services for electronic and print resource acquisitions, interlibrary loan borrowing, resource payment, and an emerging area of collection assessment.
 
The Head supervises four direct reports focused primarily on electronic resources, plus one unit supervisor who leads a six-member team dedicated to fulfillment of requests for purchased monographs and ILL borrowing.  The direct reports also support collection assessment activities as directed by the Head. The Head is a valued member of the Resource Acquisitions and Discovery (RAD) program leadership team which sets program direction in light of organizational goals, tends to the professional growth of program members, and identifies collaborative opportunities where acquisitions, metadata description, discovery systems and subject expertise intersect to enhance resource integration into teaching and research at the University of Notre Dame.
 
The Head regularly collaborates cross-programmatically with the Program Director for Collection Strategy to steward the acquisitions budget, negotiate resource purchases with content providers, and implement innovative acquisitions methodologies supported by collection analysis and assessment.
 
This 12-month, library faculty appointment will perform professional responsibilities in librarianship, scholarship, and service.
