The Opportunity
The University of Toronto Mississauga Library seeks an innovative, collegial, and forward thinking professional to manage Library technologies within the UTM Library. Reporting to the Head, Library and Instructional Technologies, the incumbent implements, maintains, supports, and enhances a wide range of technologies and systems to provide innovative library services and ensure access to the Library's online resources and digital collections.  This position also supports Library staff and librarians in the use of existing information technology as well as the adoption of new and emerging technologies.  The incumbent provides ongoing support for a variety of library systems and technologies including the integrated library system, digital projects management systems, and other web based applications.  Responsibilities also include the development and maintenance of the Drupal-based Library website, as well as its integration with other services and digital projects. The incumbent works with colleagues within the Library to ensure library technologies meet the needs of digital project development and maintenance. 

The Library Technologies and Liaison Librarian works with the IT team at UTML in the day to day work of ensuring information technology support issues are addressed in a prompt, efficient, and responsive manner. The incumbent will also communicate with the I&ITS Department on campus wide issues impacting library technology.

The incumbent will also communicate with Library staff on technology-related issues and will provide regular updates on the status of ongoing projects and resolution of technology issues. 
Maintains in-depth knowledge of standards and best practices in the realm of library technology and website development.

The position is also responsible for monitoring best practices and trends in emerging technologies and will proactively research, recommend, and develop/adapt/implement technologically innovative services to match user needs.

The incumbent will also be a member of the liaison librarian team in one or more subject areas participating in reference services, instruction and collection development. This includes developing and delivering workshops, providing research consultation, developing student-centred learning materials in consultation with faculty as well as print and digital point-of-use aids.

Required Qualifications

*    A degree from an accredited Master's level program in library and information studies
*    Experience working within an academic library management system (e.g., Sirsi)
*    Strong knowledge of one or more content management systems (e.g., Drupal, TSpace)
*    Solid knowledge of at least one digital object repository and/or delivery system (e.g., Islandora, Omeka)
*    Solid understanding of academic library services and trends within academic librarianship and higher education as they relate to library technology and web services
*    Outstanding service orientation and commitment to user service and support
*    Proven analytical and problem solving skills
*    Working knowledge of the liaison librarian role, including reference, instruction, and collection development

Preferred Qualifications

*    Experience developing/designing digital content
*    Experience and ability collaborating and working effectively with faculty, students, librarians, and staff, as well as managing multiple projects
*    Excellent written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse audiences
*    Enthusiastic and energetic individual who has superior presentation and teaching skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
*    Demonstrated experience in project management

Salary and Terms of Appointment
This is a permanent status stream appointment to be hired at the Librarian I/II rank. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic/professional qualifications.
