About the University of Toronto Libraries
The University of Toronto Libraries (UTL) system is the largest academic library in Canada and is consistently ranked among the top-10 research libraries in North America. The system consists of 44 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of 215 graduate programs, over 60 professional programs, and more than 700 undergraduate degree programs. In addition to more than 12 million print volumes, the library system currently provides access to millions of electronic resources in various forms and over 29,554 linear metres of archival material. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year.  The Libraries' data centre houses more than 200 servers with a storage capacity of 1.5 petabytes. 
 
The Opportunity
The University of Toronto Libraries seeks a creative, energetic, and forward-thinking Liaison & Education Librarian to join the Education & Information Services unit at the Gerstein Science Information Centre, Canada's largest academic science and health sciences library. The successful candidate will report to the Assistant Director for Education & Information Services and will work collaboratively with a team of Gerstein librarians and staff.
 
The successful candidate will: 
* Work with students and faculty to develop and embed information literacy in the Pharmacy and Nutrition curricula and other liaison areas as required 
* Provide instruction on library resources and the research process 
* Conduct in-depth reference and research consultations with students and faculty 
* Select, assess, and curate science collections, working with other collections librarians and liaising closely with the Coordinator, Science Collections 
* Assist with systematic reviews and other knowledge syntheses 
* Integrate assessment and principles of evidence-based practice into information literacy instruction 
* Remain current with, and implement in practice, emerging concepts in academic librarianship such as scholarly communication, research data management, and instructional technology 
* Identify opportunities for outreach and marketing of library services, with an eye towards continuous improvement 
* Serve on library and faculty committees and working groups as necessary
 
Required Qualifications
 
* A degree from an accredited Master's level program in library and information studies
* Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and communication skills 
* Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and ability to innovate and adapt in a changing environment 
* Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively 
* Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently 
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
* Commitment to service
* Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous learning
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
* Experience working in a liaison capacity in an academic health sciences library
* Undergraduate or graduate degree in the physical, life, health, or related sciences 
* Demonstrated research skills and knowledge of key databases and information sources in the Health Sciences and/or other STEM disciplines 
* Knowledge of principles of information literacy and how they can be applied in an academic setting 
* Knowledge of collection management practices 
* Knowledge of instructional design, research methodologies, and expert searching 
* Experience in building solid relationships with faculty
 
Salary and Terms of Appointment
This is a permanent status stream appointment to be hired at the Librarian I, II rank. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and academic/professional qualifications.
