The University of Utah School of Music seeks a Director for the McKay Music Library. The McKay Music Library is a strategic component of the academic, artistic, and scholarly mission of the School of Music and is a partner with the Marriott Library (the University’s main research library). Salary is commensurate with experience and institutional standards. Starting Date and Appointment: No later than June 2013. This is a full-time, twelve-month position, which includes possible appointment as an adjunct faculty member. Qualifications: (Remove what is in the Qualifications box and add: Required Qualifications: 1. Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited school (or equivalent professional librarian experience). 2. Master’s degree in music or equivalent experiences commensurate with a master’s degree. 3. Demonstrated experience or capacity for teaching music courses congruent with leadership of a music library 4. Demonstrated experience or aptitude for visionary leadership 5. Demonstrated experience with, or aptitude for, organizational management, including staff and budgets 6. Strong communication skills: the ability to work collegially with faculty, staff and students and to communicate effectively orally and in writing 7. Proficiency with basic productivity and music software 8. Reading knowledge of languages commonly used in music scholarship Preferred Qualifications 1. Work experience in a music library 2. Work experience, or educational background, with the new RDA cataloging standards 3. University teaching experience 4.
