The University of Louisville Libraries seek an innovative and energetic Associate Dean to join the senior library administrative team. Reporting to the Dean, University Libraries, this new full-time tenure track position is responsible for the public services functions of the Ekstrom Library, which supports learning, teaching, and research within the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, Social Work, and the School of Engineering. This position also has responsibility for several units (Technical Services, Libraries Technology, and Collection Development) which support more than one library. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead in a period of continuing transformation accompanied by an ongoing program of physical space updates to meet user needs. Opportunities/responsibilities of the position: • Provide innovative and visionary leadership and direction to: o the Ekstrom Library public services units: Reference/Instruction, Circulation/ILL, Media/Reserves (8.5 faculty, 14 staff), and lead the Ekstrom Library Services Group o the Collection Development, Libraries Technology, and Technical Services departments, which all support more than one library (8.5 faculty, 20 staff) • Work collaboratively with others in the Libraries to help advance and fulfill the University Libraries strategic plan • Seek out and maintain relationships with campus and community partners • Serve on the senior library administrative team • Assist with assessment efforts including service on the Library Student Advisory Board • Participate in planning for physical space renovations • Participate in professional organizations as well as library and/or university committees.
