Job Description The A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University invites applications for the librarian of its Turchin Library. The Turchin librarian is responsible for planning and delivery of quality library collections and services in support of the education and research mission and objectives of the Freeman School. Collection development and service delivery requires knowledge of the academic business disciplines, faculty research, and business curricular trends. Library management requires knowledge of principles and processes necessary for effective strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, leadership, and coordination of people and resources. The Turchin librarian reports to the Freeman School Director of Technology and Library, has supervisory responsibility for two library associates and 6-10 student workers, and has financial responsibility for annual non-salary expenditures of approximately $355,000. Qualifications 1. At least four years relevant library experience, preferably with experience as a business librarian at an academic institution; 2. Experience with principles and processes for planning and providing quality business library services including: a. Library automation, Web content development/maintenance, and the use of computer/online databases including CRSP, IBES, WRDS, Bloomberg, and Thomson Reuters; b. Instruction to students and faculty in effective use of library resources; 3. Experience with management principles and processes involved in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, leadership, and coordination of people and resources; 4. Understands the implications of evolving scholarly communications, information sources and digital media for business education and research; 5. Evidence of effective communications and interpersonal skills. Minimum Education: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree. Tulane is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
