Position Summary: The Communications Coordinator will plan, execute, and evaluate specific communications projects for the University Libraries, working collaboratively with colleagues from University Libraries and University Relations to enhance awareness and reputation of University Libraries, and to build support for its programs. Specific communications projects will involve writing, editing, and organizing original content for the University Libraries including news releases, magazine and newsletter articles, brochures, social media posts, digital signage, and content for other web- and print-based marketing materials. In addition to promotional content, the coordinator will also assist with annual reports, fundraising documents, program proposals, and other strategic communications. The position reports to the Associate Director for Learning & Outreach but is expected to be part of a collaborative team to craft messages that reach diverse audiences. Required Qualifications:-Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field. Experience creating, writing and editing a variety of materials such as articles, brochures, presentations, reports, and news releases. Experience with various social media platforms. Demonstrated success in communicating with diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Preferred Qualifications: -Previous work experience in communications field -Experience with marketing campaign development and management. Media relations experience including actively seeking out and pitching stories to targeted media outlets. Experience interviewing a wide array of clients for assignments ranging from print, online, video, photographic, and other broadcast projects. Experience with content management systems (i.e. Ensemble). Knowledge of the university’s style guide and/or AP style. Familiarity with academic libraries. Enthusiasm for technology.
