University Librarian

The Emory University Libraries seeks a creative and team-oriented University Librarian to lead the Emory University libraries within a newly announced organizational structure that encompasses the libraries, digital scholarship, and information technology. Organizational Structure • The University Librarian reports to the Enterprise CIO and Senior Vice Provost for Library Services & Digital Scholarship. • The University Librarian’s direct reports within the Robert W. Woodruff Library include the Directors of Content, Services, Scholarly Communications, External Affairs, and Library Administration (which includes Facilities, Human Resources, Planning & Assessment, and Security) as well as the Director of the Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Library (MARBL). • The Directors of the Goizueta Business Library and the Woodruff Health Sciences Center (WHSC) Library also report to the University Librarian. In the latter case, there is a dual report to the Vice President of Research for the Woodruff Health Sciences Center. For the purposes of fundraising and strategic planning, the University Librarian and the directors of MARBL, WHSC and the Business libraries will work directly with the Senior Vice Provost for Library Services & Digital Scholarship. The Directors of the School of Law, School of Theology, and Oxford campus libraries report to their respective deans, but utilize enterprise services provided by the Emory University Libraries and University Technology Services. Position Responsibilities • As a member of the Senior Vice Provost’s leadership team, articulates ways in which library services, digital scholarship and information technology can be optimized to better support Emory’s mission and vision. • Provides leadership and operational oversight for the Robert W. Woodruff Library, which includes the branch libraries for Music & Media, Chemistry and Math-Science. Responsible for the development and implementation of annual operational plans that align with the Senior Vice Provost’s strategic goals and initiatives.
