The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries invites applications for Head, User Services. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Education, the Head of User Services will collaborate to further articulate and implement the Libraries’ service philosophy with a heavy emphasis on user-centeredness. This reimagined position will be responsible for provision of high-quality, seamless services at physical library desks in UNLV’s Lied Library, including Circulation, Media, Computer Help, and Research and Information. The department has eight staff, three of whom are direct reports, and many student employees. Responsibilities include: ensuring appropriate staffing for library service points, including oversight of training and scheduling; collaborating to establish and revise library public policies (e.g., circulation, building use, public access); continuous improvement of library desk services including transition of services to an unmediated and/or virtual environment; reviewing user feedback and resolving disputes; chairing the Libraries Service Providers Group, which includes representatives from all library functional areas including the branch libraries, with a focus on a consistently positive user experience; and conducting ongoing assessments related to User Services to assist in formulating policy and determining strategic directions.
