Columbia University Libraries invites nominations and applications for the position of Western European Humanities Librarian, Humanities & History Libraries division. The Western European Humanities Librarian engages and collaborates with faculty and students in the following departments: History, Philosophy, French, and Italian. The Librarian will collect materials in early modern and modern continental Western European history, philosophy, and French and Italian languages and literatures. The Librarian manages collection funds, selects materials, and coordinates outreach to those designated subject areas. As part of the Humanities and History team, the Librarian is responsible for research consultations, instructional services, and providing front-line research support in-person and virtually. The Librarian will support digital scholarship initiatives and engage technologies emerging as critical to research and teaching in the humanities to meet the evolving needs of faculty, students, and staff. The Librarian will also participate in service programs across the Libraries including research information management and new forms of scholarly communication. The Librarian will work closely with colleagues from the Humanities and History Libraries and collaborate on digital projects supporting the teaching, learning and research mission of the University with colleagues from the Center for New Media Teaching and Learning and the Center for Digital Research and Scholarship.
