The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library (HSL) seeks a collaborative, enthusiastic, and outreach-oriented individual for the position of TraCS Funding Resources Librarian. As a member of the HSL User Services Department and the Health and Natural Sciences Team, the individual in this position works closely with staff and researcher members of the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences (TraCS) Institute [http://tracs.unc.edu/], the university’s Clinical and Translational Science Award unit. By working collaboratively with librarians, faculty, and administrators, the TraCS Funding Resources Librarian will connect researchers with grants and internal and external funding resources. The Librarian will scan funding databases and other sources to find appropriate matches based on researcher profiles including targeted funding opportunities for CTSA (Clinical and Translational Science Award) recipients. The individual in this position will liaise with research navigator groups to find multidisciplinary translational funding opportunities for the team science program and with individual researchers across the translational science spectrum to ensure appropriate funding opportunities are communicated in a timely way. The Librarian will reach out to campus units about grant seeking and grant services through a variety of in person and electronic channels and will provide group and individual instruction on funding resources for investigators and their staffs. This position will identify potential new areas of collaboration among TraCS, HSL, REACH NC, and other groups and will connect the UNC statewide system libraries with relevant TraCS Institute initiatives through the Sponsored Programs and Research Council (SPARC) of the 17-institution University of North Carolina system. Other position responsibilities include maintaining the university Foundation Directory Online subscription and web-based grant seeking information for TraCS Institute members. The individual in this position will assist TraCS’ administrative staff to support and help investigators respond and prepare proposals, and assist the TraCS Knowledge Management Librarian and administrative staff with NC TraCS tracking and evaluation efforts including identifying publications and extramural grants that result from TraCS collaborations.
