Research Services Librarian / Lecturer in Law

The Alyne Queener Massey Law Library at Vanderbilt University seeks a creative, energetic, and highly customer-oriented librarian to join our team. The Research Services Librarian will provide legal reference and research services, participate in the faculty liaison program, and teach legal research classes in the first-year Legal Research & Writing program. The person in this position will develop and teach a one-credit upper-division specialized legal research course. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Public Services. Key Responsibilities: •Provide legal reference and research services to students, faculty, and other members of the Vanderbilt community •Teach legal research skills in the first-year Legal Research & Writing program •Develop and teach an upper-division specialized legal research course •Participate in collection development activities •Update and maintain assigned web content utilizing the content management system •Maintain professional growth by participating in educational programs and activities to ensure knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments •Participate in the work of University Libraries committees •Perform related duties as required QUALIFICATIONS: Required: J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and M.L.S. from an ALA accredited library school. Substantial knowledge of legal bibliography and legal research techniques in both print and electronic formats. Teaching interest and ability. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong service orientation, and the ability to interact positively with law faculty, students, colleagues, and public patrons. ENVIRONMENT: This is an exciting time to be at Vanderbilt University.
