This opening is a unique opportunity for a forward-looking University Librarian to play a critical role in fostering active and collaborative learning within one of Canada's most innovative and premier urban universities. Concordia University is seeking as its new University Librarian a visionary leader who is committed to excellence in librarianship and has a well-regarded reputation for advancing research, learning and teaching at a university. Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program, or equivalent education and training; a scholarly profile and career consistent with the vision of a modern academic library; and experience delivering outstanding library service which reflect the aspirations and trends in higher education. The ideal candidate has a broad knowledge and understanding of current issues in academic librarianship, a successful track record in managing and shaping change, strong collaborative skills, experience managing human resources, preferably in a unionized environment, and, above all, a passion for creating an intellectually stimulating learning environment and cultivating a positive high-service culture. Excellent communication in English is essential, and French language skills are a distinct advantage.
