Texas A&M University Libraries seeks a forward-thinking, collaborative and energetic leader with a keen sense of the evolving role of research libraries in the digital age. As a member of a newly forming Library leadership team, the successful candidate will create and communicate a vision, set priorities, and develop strategies to assess and improve the access, management and preservation of information resources and the supporting infrastructure. In 2013, the Libraries completed the permanent appointment of the Associate Dean for User Services and Associate Dean for Faculty and Administrative Services. In the coming year, the Libraries seeks to complete its administrative team with two more key leadership positions: the Associate Dean for Information Resources (this position), and the Associate Dean for Special Collections. Together with a new Dean, appointed in 2012, the Associate Deans will have the opportunity to craft a new vision at the Texas A&M University Libraries. Within the larger context of a campus that continues to grow in enrollment, graduate programs, research awards and endowment, the position presents exceptional opportunities with impact at the local, national and international levels. The position has administrative responsibility for the following units and services: •Cataloging •Collection Development and Acquisitions •Document Delivery •Preservation •Scholarly Communications •Shelving The materials budget is currently $14 million, and the number of faculty/staff position in the above units totals approximately 90 FTE. This is a senior leadership position. Also, as a faculty position, the successful candidate will have a sufficient and established record in librarianship, scholarship and service to merit appointment at the rank of associate professor with tenure; preferred candidates will exhibit a record to affirm appointment at the rank of professor.
