Special Collections Assistant VMudd Library Public ServicesThe Library seeks an energetic and service-oriented individual to provide a range of public services at the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library. The individual assists in-person and remote patrons in the use of the Princeton University Archives and 20th Century Public Policy Papers; coordinates and tracks digital and photo reproduction and photography orders; trains and supervises students and other library assistants; and assists with exhibitions and other outreach-oriented endeavors. This position is one of two expected to manage routine library operations in the absence of professional staff, and as such is endowed with significant responsibility for daily operations, including building maintenance issues and website updates. The incumbent will report to and work closely with the Assistant University Archivist for Public Services in developing and implementing policies and procedures. Required: Excellent written and oral communication skills; flexibility and resourcefulness in responding to the demands of a busy reference operation while balancing other responsibilities; attention to detail; strong research and analytical skills; ability to plan, organize, and supervise work; ability to work on deadline; ability to be proactive and work independently as well as cooperatively within a team environment; ability to navigate online sources, especially archival finding aids and databases; familiarity with MS Word, Access, and Excel; public service experience in a library, special collections, or archival setting; ability to lift a 30lb. box overhead.Preferred: Knowledge of Princeton University history and/or 20th century American history; bachelor’s degree in American history, American Studies, or a related field; experience training and supervising others, especially students; knowledge of HTML and Web-editing tools, content management systems such as Drupal; and blogging software such as WordPress.Nominations and applications will be accepted only from the Jobs at Princeton website: http://www.princeton.edu/jobsPrinceton University is an equal opportunity employer and complies with applicable EEO and affirmative action regulations.Open until filled.
