University Librarian (JOB# 10653) Arizona State University Arizona State University seeks a national leader in academic libraries and information resources for the position of University Librarian to begin July 1, 2014. Directly reporting to the University Provost, the University Librarian will develop and implement a vision for the multiple libraries on four campuses at Arizona State (ASU), an entrepreneurial knowledge enterprise generating $405 million in annual research expenditures and educating over 75,000 students, including PhD students across an extensive range of traditional and interdisciplinary academic programs. ASU Libraries serve the largest university in the nation, including a large and growing number of students online and at locations outside of the metropolitan Phoenix area, including a physical location at Lake Havasu City. Currently numbering around 10,000 students, ASU’s online enrollment is projected to reach 30,000 students by the end of the decade. As a member institution of the Association of Research Libraries, we seek a University Librarian who will develop services and collections for the rapidly changing world of information. Specific Responsibilities of the University Librarian: • Establish a shared vision that advances the University’s Design Aspirations and the University Libraries’ mission. • Develop and implement a strategic plan to promote the vision. • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in scholarship and pedagogy. • Develop strong and collaborative relationships that move the libraries toward excellence in meeting the constantly changing needs of the academic community. • Communicate internally and externally regarding the University Libraries. • Develop productive relationships with Deans, the Provost, President, and other University administrators. • Insure that technological advances are utilized appropriately to advance the evolving service and collection responsibilities of the libraries. • Work with library and department heads to improve services and increase efficiency within the libraries. • Foster professionalism, diversity, and a positive work/learning environment in the University Libraries. • Recruit, retain, and lead librarians and staff members of high quality.
