POSITION OPEN POSITION: Copyright Outreach Librarian (Librarian I or II) DEPARTMENT: University of Toronto Libraries (UTL)DATE REQUIRED: ASAPPosition descriptionThe University of Toronto seeks a librarian to join the Scholarly Communications and Copyright Office. The successful applicant will work with the Scholarly Communications and Copyright Librarian on a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to, engaging in University wide outreach, assisting in developing and communicating policy around copyright and scholarly communications policy, working across the library to support open access and other forms of scholarly communication, and engaging in directed research on scholarly communications and copyright issues.This position will require outreach, coordination, and consultation with stakeholders across the tri-campus community. The successful applicant must be able to engage productively and understand the needs of a diverse set of stakeholders with a varied range of interests. Due to the sensitive nature of the position, discretion and good judgment are required. Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will have:• ALA-accredited Master of Library or Information Science or equivalent• Demonstrated interest and experience in scholarly communications and open access issues• Knowledge of copyright issues, particularly as they pertain to higher education, libraries, and publishing• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Effective presentation skills• Excellent time management, organizational, and problem solving skillsPreferred Qualifications:• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B)/Juris Doctor (J.D.)• Knowledge of Canadian copyright laws, regulations, and practices• Experience in higher education or librariesSalary and Terms of Appointment:Salary and appointment level are based upon experience and qualifications.
