Under the direction of the Director of Preservation & Digital Conversion Division (PDCD), the incumbent will perform a variety of tasks to support the project for digitization of the Wellington Koo Papers including: performing project and image quality control; physically preparing and post processing original archival materials; entering data and maintaining the project spreadsheets and other documentation; creating basic metadata for images; gathering and preparing statistics; performing other duties as assigned. Digitization will be carried out by a Taiwanese company working on-site in the library. The incumbent will be expected to communicate on a daily basis with both Chinese and English speakers.
This is a 15-month temporary grant-funded position, with possibility of extension.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm
Minimum qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs (MS Word, Excel)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced speaking knowledge of Mandarin Chinese language and working knowledge of Mandarin Chinese language
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 30 lb. boxes and transfer large numbers of heavy boxes from one place to another
Preferred qualifications:
- BA degree preferred
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or other image editing software
- Ability to judge color and process large numbers of image files
- Experience with MS Windows operating system
- Experience using desktop database software, such as MS Access
- Experience with Unix commands and uploading files to servers
