Lecturer (Acquisitions Librarian)

LECTURER (ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN) SIU CARBONDALE LIBRARY AFFAIRS SIU Carbondale, Library Affairs, is seeking a Lecturer (Acquisitions Librarian). Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited Master’s of Library Science degree or equivalent, awarded by date of appointment; minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience; knowledge of monographic and/or serials acquisitions; knowledge of or experience in fiscal management; proficiency in using a variety of software packages, including spreadsheets and databases (e.g. MS Excel and MS Access); knowledge of current and emerging publishing and scholarly communication issues and trends; excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills; flexibility, strong organizational skills, and ability to work well under pressure. Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in acquisitions in an academic library; experience working in a consortial environment; experience with bibliographic utilities and integrated library systems; experience using the ExLibris Voyager system; knowledge of basic formats and terminology of MARC and other bibliographic standards; experience working with diverse populations; experience in developing innovative and creative enhancements to library operations; entrepreneurial experience with online selling, such as selling gift and withdrawn books and other library materials online; experience with library digitization projects; experience or coursework related to business or vendor relations; second Master’s degree; speaking, reading and writing knowledge of a second language; experience writing, obtaining, and managing grants.
