The University of Alabama Libraries seeks a creative, collaborative and service-oriented librarian for the position of STEM Academic Technologies Instruction Librarian. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Branch Libraries and Digital Student Services, this position is responsible for providing instruction for advanced software applications and technologies to support a variety of STEM academic disciplines and programs. Some examples include AutoCAD, Mathematica, MATLAB, Python, R, SAS, SPSS, etc. These instruction efforts will be directed to both students and faculty members and will require that the successful candidate achieve an appropriate level of proficiency in the applications or technologies taught. In addition, the STEM Academic Technologies Instruction Librarian will develop strategies, course plans, and supporting material for administering these sessions. This work includes creating appropriate instructional guides and web-based tutorials. This position will coordinate and collaborate with other librarians responsible for instruction in the organization to minimize conflicting schedules and offerings while insuring needed topics are covered. More broadly, the STEM Academic Technologies Instruction Librarian will work closely with public services faculty and staff as well as their colleagues in technology units throughout the University Libraries.
