Digital Course Content Management / Course Reserves Librarian

As a state of the art teaching and researching institution, the University of Massachusetts Boston Healey Library Information Delivery Services department strives to provide up-to date digital course contentment management/course reserves services to our community in this ever changing digital era.


The Digital Course Content Management/Course Reserves Librarian will work closely with faculty members in providing digital course content management/course reserves services and digitally delivered curriculum support. S/he will also: participate in and coordinate all of the activities involved in course content management and course reserves operations to ensure the availability and accessibility of the reserve materials; generate regular course reserves statistic reports, track and evaluate usage of course reserves; monitor the current trends of best practice of academic digital course content management and course reserves; work with the head of information delivery services to develop strategic plans; improve and shape future course reserves services to reach Healey Library's mission and department goals; be responsible for the creation of course websites; process course reserve materials to digital format and upload the digitized items to the library's Electronic Reserves system or campus course management system; be responsible for creation of accurate, durable and persistent links to full text materials to the library electronic reserves services platform or campus course management system; maintain current knowledge of fair use and copyright laws for course reserves; manage the library's film reservation system; maintain reserve stacks; and perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in library information science is required. Two to five years professional experience working in academic library is required. Excellent customer service skills, details oriented, well organized and management skills. Knowledge of fair use and copyright guidelines for digital course content management and course reserves.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience of using Integrated Library Information system (ILS) such as Voyager. Knowledge of current course reserves technologies and platforms such as Atlas Ares with a Blackboard plug-in module and ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly. Proficient computer skills, experience using Microsoft products including Access. Experience using academic course management systems such as Blackboard preferred. Experience creating audio/ video tutorials preferred. Familiar with screencasting software (Camtasia) preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
