TITLE:  Non-Tenure Track Librarian (Librarian of Practice IV)

               Paul Robeson Library, Rutgers University Libraries

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: A non-tenure track full-time faculty position beginning immediately and continuing on an annual basis depending on funding.  Situated at the Paul Robeson Library and reporting to the Director, this person will be the liaison in the provision of information services, collection development services, and library instruction services for the students, faculty, and staff from the Camden City Campuses of Camden County College and Rowan University. These campuses are located two blocks from the Paul Robeson Library. There are approximately 3,000 students on these two campuses. This person will also provide general and specialized reference including some evening and weekend in all academic disciplines and instruction in the use of information resources for all patrons of the Robeson Library.  Other duties and responsibilities as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:  An ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library and Information Science. One year professional library experience preferred.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a collegial environment.  Experience with web based instruction.  Familiarity with Spanish preferred.

SALARY/STATUS:  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

LIBRARY PROFILE:  The Rutgers University Libraries, comprising libraries on the University’s Camden, New Brunswick, Newark, and Health Sciences Newark campuses, all reporting to the Vice President for Information Services and University Librarian, operate as a unified library system with coordinated public, technical services, and collection development programs including digital initiatives and a pioneering institutional repository. The Libraries have a highly valued staff of about 300, who are committed to developing innovations in access services, information literacy, and digital initiatives. The Libraries operate with a budget of $32 million and have outstanding collections, especially in jazz and New Jerseyana. The Rutgers University Libraries hold membership in ARL, CRL, Lyrasis, Metro, NERL, and VALE, and use Sirsi Dynix and OCLC as primary bibliographic utilities, and a Fedora-based institutional repository.
