Education and Outreach Librarian

Reporting to Associate Director and Head of Lilly Library Public Services: provide leadership and direction in design, delivery, and assessment of innovative methods of teaching with special collections for Public Services Department; in collaboration with other members of Public Services Department, provide high quality instruction using special collections materials to diverse audiences, principally undergraduate and graduate students; collaborate with faculty and other library and campus partners to develop innovative teaching strategies utilizing information technologies and special collections materials; in collaboration with Head of Public Services, manage Lilly Library social media and related communications; provide reference services for specialized areas and on back-up basis, including weekends.
Qualifications: Required: Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science from ALA-accredited graduate program; minimum one year full-time experience providing public services in special collections repository to diverse clientele including faculty, undergraduate and graduate students; demonstrated experience teaching with special collections and commitment to promoting the appreciation and use of special collections materials to a variety of audiences; understanding of significance of original artifacts and nature and value of primary materials for learning, teaching, research, and outreach.
Preferred: Additional graduate degree in discipline related to collections of Lilly Library; knowledge of instructional design, pedagogy, assessment principles for effective instruction; knowledge of history of the book and the book arts and of methods and materials that have been used to create and disseminate archival and non-print materials.
