The University of Wisconsin-Madison, General Library System (GLS), an ARL institution, is accepting applications for the full-time academic staff position of Assistant Head of Cataloging for Catalog Operations. The title of Academic Librarian, or Senior Academic Librarian will be assigned depending on the credentials of the successful candidate.

Under the direction of the Head of the Cataloging Department, oversee the cataloging with copy of library materials in any format for all western European, Slavic, and East Asian languages. Supervise 14.5 FTE permanent library paraprofessionals plus additional student assistants. Coordinate the catalog maintenance activities of transferring or withdrawing physical materials. Oversee edits to existing bibliographic records, either individually or in batch mode. Manage the physical processing of tangible library resources. Participate in establishing policies and procedures for the Cataloging Department as a whole, including migration to and implementation of a new Integrated Library System (Alma).
