The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications from candidates to fill the non-tenured faculty position of Research and Education Librarian. Manages the programmatic aspects of the Anesthesiology department’s medical library. Serves the needs of resident and attending physicians, medical students, and staff, building collaborative relationships. Attends conferences, rounds, and some lectures, providing immediate information as requested using current technology and resources. Collaborates with researchers on journal club, courses, anesthesiology history, systematic reviews of the literature, and clinically-focused projects. Will be an educator for library resources, knowledge management, and information technology; this can be in the form of classroom didactic or hands-on instructional programs. Performs in-house and online research for faculty, residents, medical students, and staff.  Helps users with online databases and other materials available from the University libraries. Collects and organizes material related to department’s history. Provides content in several areas for department’s website(s). Master’s degree in Library or Information Sciences from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution. Five (5) years of relevant library experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
