The University of Oregon Libraries seeks a knowledgeable, creative, and service-oriented colleague for the position of Authorities and Special Collections Cataloging Librarian.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provides management, leadership and expertise in the areas of authority control and special collections cataloging. Manages the day-to-day operations of special collections cataloging of materials such as manuscript collections, artists’ books and rare materials. Sets cataloging priorities in consultation with Special Collections and University Archives and other stakeholders. Establishes, refines and documents local policies and procedures in accordance with national standards and best practices. Explores, proposes and implements new workflows, processes and systems to improve efficiency and facilitate access to library resources. Provides leadership to UO Libraries on authority control policies and NACO procedures. Coordinates the Library’s contributions to the LC/NACO authority file. Provides guidance and training on local and PCC policies and practice. Represents UO Libraries in consortial and national authority control activities. Actively participates in the administration and management of Collection Services as a member of CS’s leadership group. Supervises 1 FTE classified employee. Contributes to the advancement of the Libraries’ mission through service on local and national committees, and continuing professional development, including, but not limited to, conference attendance, presentations and publications. Reports to the Head of Collection Services.
