The Princeton University Library comprises a large central library and 12 specialized libraries that are heavily used by an academic community that includes 7,800 students and 1,100 faculty members. To support the diverse needs of its users, the Library holds over seven million printed volumes and provides access to many other records of human knowledge, such as databases, journals, and microdata. The Library employs more than 370 professional and support personnel, complemented by a large student workforce. The Industrial Relations/Labor Economics Librarian serves as Princeton University Library's primary subject specialist librarian to serve the needs of the University's Industrial Relations Section. The Industrial Relations Section (part of the Economics Department) focuses on teaching and research in areas such as unemployment & racial discrimination, unionization, the economics of labor supply & retirement, education & school quality, the effects on minimum wages, and labor turnover & job duration. It also engages in the training of graduate students in data collection & analysis and in the supervision of  dissertations. Manage the Industrial Relations collections; provide specialized reference & research services for faculty, students & affiliates; review published literature & databases in industrial relations, labor economics, & human resources management and select materials for collections in print & electronic formats, including "born digital". Oversee production of Selected References, a broadly distributed bibliography focusing on contemporary labor. Supervise .5 FTE support staff. As a member of Firestone Library's Research & Instructional Services Department, actively participates in a teamwork environment to develop and efficiently implement the direct provision of instructional, research & reference services. Engages in library planning, special projects, and professional activities, and represents the Library at relevant professional organizations such as the Community of Industrial Relations. Evening and weekend hours as required. Reports to the Economics & Data Librarian.

Essential Qualifications: MLS from ALA-accredited library/information science graduate program AND/OR advanced graduate degree in a quantitative social science such as economics or business, with professional reference experience in an academic, corporate, or research library setting. Demonstrated ability and experience functioning successfully in a fast-paced environment with a strong public service orientation. Strong written & oral communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: Strong familiarity with the literature of industrial relations/labor economics; expertise with bibliographic databases and with accessing economic, labor, and/or financial data.
