The Emory University Libraries seeks a creative, collaborative, and effective director to lead the Emory University’s Academic Technology Services. The position is an exciting opportunity to advance the University’s academic technology program, in collaboration with faculty, students, and library and information technology professionals. The director will develop and implement programs to enhance education and engagement through the innovative and effective use of technology and new media in teaching and learning.

 

Organizational Structure

§  The Director of Academic Technology Services will report to the University Librarian for Emory University Libraries.

§  The Director’s direct reports include the manager for ATS Faculty Services and the manager for ATS Student services.

§  The Director will work collaboratively with library, information technology, and instructional technology professionals.

 

Position Responsibilities

§  Provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of an academic technology program to include relevant applications, initiatives, and support services across a broad spectrum of instructional technology functions

§  Provides leadership in program planning for faculty and student services and in the development of policies related to the use of technology in curriculum development, e-learning, and other instructional technology initiatives

§  Champions the creative design, development, and implementation of academic technologies and programs that advance teaching and learning

§  Provides leadership in the development of active learning spaces for collaboration, production, and development with technology

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

A master's degree. A PhD is preferred. Five years of related experience which includes using Library & IT resources to address the academic program of a college or university, college or university teaching experience, budget management and supervisory experience. Familiarity with network design and support requirements for very high bandwidth networking applications.
