POSITION:

This full-time administrative professional position fills a key role in the Access Services Department by managing library operations related to the storage, maintenance and circulation of the Libraries’ physical collections. The Assistant Coordinator for Stacks and Circulation reports to the Coordinator for Onsite Services, and is responsible for all print, microform, and media collections held in Morgan Library, the Veterinary Branch Library, and an off-site storage facility. This position also coordinates equipment purchases, space planning, and collection shifting for all Libraries facilities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manages the storage, preservation, and logistics of the Libraries’ physical collection, which is dispersed between Morgan Library, the Veterinary Branch Library, the Lake Street Book Depository, and University Archives and Special Collections.
    • Analyzes short-term and long-term space needs for the Library’s collections.  Develops a five-year plan for housing the physical collection, based on purchasing and withdrawal decisions.
    • Maintains inventory control of all Library collections. Responsible for completing an ongoing project to bring materials at the Lake Street Depository under a single inventory schema. 
    • Collects and analyzes circulation statistics, building traffic data and environmental data, and provides regular reports to Libraries administration. 
    • Develops and maintains best practices, standards, and safety procedures related to stacks maintenance and preservation in a large academic library. Actively reviews local and national trends to improve efficiencies of operations.
    • Responsible for customer service support and training for Access Services employees. Resolves customer billing issues and other patron complaints. Works closely with the University Bursar’s office regarding customer billing.
    • In conjunction with the Colorado State University Police Department, monitors security camera footage in support of building safety and security. Recommends and implements changes to improve the security of library public spaces.
    • Supervises one FTE state classified position and approximately 8 FTE student employees in the Stacks Unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum of 3 years’ full-time work experience in a library circulation department.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience in a library setting.
    • Demonstrated experience with stacks and shifting operations in a library environment, including space planning.
    • Demonstrated experience working with an integrated library system, such as Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium.
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, push a loaded book truck, and climb shelving ladders/stairs. The individual in this position will also be required to physically inspect compact moveable shelving with a technician.
    • Must have or be able to obtain a Colorado driver’s license and pass motor vehicle background check.

 

Preferred:

·         Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library science program.

 

RANK AND SALARY:

Administrative professional position. Insurance benefits are available for appointments of half-time or greater, and faculty and administrative professionals may select from several options for medical, dental, life, and personal disability insurance, as well as retirement plans. Full-time faculty and administrative professionals earn 24 days of vacation and 15 days of sick leave annually. Optional deferred compensation. Salary range is $39,000 to $43,000.
