Required Qualifications:  Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of a degree, four years of directly related full-time experience, or a combination of higher education and experience totaling four years may be considered. Four years of directly related full-time responsible systems administration experience.  Knowledge of scripting/programming of automation tasks, data access and data processing. Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to multi-task and work independently.  
Preferred Qualifications:  Two years of responsible related library systems experience. Experience in Electronic Data Interchange, SQL, Linux, Library Management Systems, digital library discovery tools, Digital Repositories and open linked data.

Brief Description of Duties: The Senior Programmer/Analyst will work closely with the library’s other units to provide high-quality library service through the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information for the library’s users. The primary responsibilities are: 1) to administer the library’s online automated system; 2) to innovate new methods of access to library data and collections, including a provision of services that feed information to the users of library information where needed, including access to library collections via a variety of computing devices and interfaces; 3) to compile critical library performance and service data and reports for collection development and customer support purposes; 4) assist in the administration and security of the library’s computer network. The successful candidate will:
  • Administrate the library’s integrated management system and automated catalog. Be responsible for report generation for fiscal management of library acquisitions, customized programming for data management, and coordination with SUNY-wide library standards required for improved access to state-wide library resources.
  • Create new and innovative methods to administer and facilitate access to bibliographic data residing on any of the Library’s servers including but not limited to the campus discovery system, document repositories, web, and inter-library loan systems.
  • Collect and manage critical performance measurements of library digital resources and services, including usage reports of library digital collections, in preparation of budget planning and collection development.
  • Assist in the administration and maintenance of the library’s other servers and workstations.
  • Participate in department and University-wide committees, events, and professional organizations. Maintain technical competency and skills in order to adapt as automation evolves.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned, in accordance with rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Night and weekend work is required. Travel for technical conferences and training will be required for this position. **Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
