The Dartmouth College Library seeks an enthusiastic, service-focused individual to join a collaborative team of Research and Education Librarians in the Biomedical Libraries. This librarian will provide research and education services to the Geisel School of Medicine, the Department of Biological Sciences, The Dartmouth Institute, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), and other programs, in support of research, scholarship, education, and patient care in the health and life sciences.  This is an ideal position for someone beginning their career in biomedical librarianship.  The Biomedical Libraries offer the candidate the opportunity to work within a vibrant community committed to innovation in medical education, public health, biological sciences, and healthcare delivery.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Reporting to the Head of Education, Research, and Clinical Services at the Biomedical Libraries, this librarian provides a broad array of in-depth information and educational services to students, faculty, staff, patients, and other library users.  S/he consults with clients about access to and use of information, assists users in large research projects such as systematic reviews, and promotes the Biomedical Libraries’ resources and services in the educational, research, and clinical arenas.  Opportunities for engagement within the community include teaching within the undergraduate, medical, graduate, and other curricula, integrating resources at point of care, and facilitating scholarly communication.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited degree in library and/or information science, or a combination of an advanced subject or professional degree combined with relevant academic library work experience is required.  An educational background in the health or life sciences is preferred.

 

RANK AND SALARY: This entry-level Librarian I position is part of the Dartmouth College Library Classification System of Professional Ranks. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Full benefits package including 22 vacation days; comprehensive health care; retirement plans, including TIAA-CREF; and relocation assistance.   

 

GENERAL INFORMATION: The mission of the Biomedical Libraries is to provide health and life sciences information resources and services that advance research and scholarship, education, and patient-care activities. The Biomedical Libraries consist of the Dana Biomedical Library on Dartmouth's Hanover campus, the Matthews-Fuller Health Sciences Library at DHMC, and document delivery services at the Dartmouth Library Depository. The Dartmouth medical community is a known leader in national healthcare policy.
