Under the direction of the Head of Digital Scholarship and Data Curation, the Digital Repository Analyst (Analyst) provides technical expertise to support the development of innovative data curation and digital scholarship programs at the UConn Library. The Analyst works with members of the Unit to conceive, prototype, test, and implement digital repository applications and compelling digital scholarship tools, particularly focusing on effective preservation and presentation of digital content, and the integration of digital content in the communication of scholars’ ideas. The Analyst maintains current awareness of relevant technologies and applies that knowledge as part of the team and seeks opportunities to contribute to the development of methods and tools which enhance scholarship.

Minimum Qualifications for Computer Programmer/Analyst 1 (UCP 6)

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field and at least one year of programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Demonstrated experience with commonly used digital library coding languages, for example: PHP, MySQL, XML, XSLT, JavaScript.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience working with and developing code for digital repository and digital content management systems, for example: Fedora Commons, Islandora, and content management systems.
  4. Demonstrated ability in analytical reasoning and creative problem solving.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of researchers, staff, and students.
  6. Strong written and oral communication skills.

Additional Qualifications for Computer Programmer/Analyst 2 (UCP 8)

1.    Bachelor’s degree in computer-related field and two to three years of programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2.    Demonstrated leadership and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications for Both Appointments

1.    Experience with Fedora Commons, Islandora, Drupal, and Omeka.

2.    Demonstrated experience with commonly used languages and schemas, for example: Sparql, Python, MongoDB, Ruby.

3.    Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of emerging frameworks and techniques, for example: AngularJS, Rails, CodeIgniter, Laravel, Docker, Camel, Amazon Web Services/EC2, nodeJS.

4.    Demonstrated knowledge of linked data and RDF.

5.    Demonstrated experience with source code versioning systems such as Git.

6.    Experience in an academic research library.

This is a full time position based in Storrs with an anticipated start date of April 14, 2017.
