ARL's leadership development programs focus on two priorities:
- Provide executive leadership development to support succession planning for ARL member libraries.
- Develop expertise in ARL directors and key research library staff around priority issues and skills as identified by ARL Strategic Directions and the ARL Board of Directors.
ARL Leadership Fellows Program
The ARL Leadership Fellows program is an executive leadership program designed and sponsored by ARL member libraries that offers an opportunity for development of future senior-level leaders in large research libraries. Leadership & Career Development Program (LCDP)
The ARL Leadership & Career Development Program (LCDP) is an 18-month program to prepare mid-career librarians from traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups to take on increasingly demanding leadership roles in ARL libraries. The LCDP addresses the need for research libraries to develop a more diverse professional workforce that can contribute to library success in serving the research, teaching, and learning of increasingly diverse scholarly and learning communities.
