The ARL Research Library Leadership Fellows (RLLF) Program is designed for librarians with department-head or equivalent experience or higher. Applicants should have strong interest in pursuing a senior-level leadership role in an ARL library, regardless of type of library background or current setting.
Applicants should have a demonstrated record of leadership initiative and strong potential for future leadership contributions. Candidates’ participation (non-financial) must be fully supported by their home institution. The program will include applicants from the sponsoring institutions, additional fellows from within other ARL libraries, and two fellows from non-ARL member libraries. The cohort of fellows will be selected by the RLLF sponsoring library directors with participation from ARL staff.
Prospective fellows should complete the online application form. ARL will collect the application materials and prepare them for review and selection by the program sponsors. The completed online application form and attachments should be submitted by the close of business on Friday, June 14, 2013.
The complete fellows application should include:
- Applicant information sheet
- Curriculum vitae
- Statement of interest from prospective fellows*
- Letter of support from library director of home institution
* Candidates are asked to submit with their application a concise description of why they are interested in this program as a developmental experience. Statements should address their current leadership role, future aspirations, and how this particular experience will inform career and professional decisions. Note: Candidates who are not currently working in an ARL library are reminded that this program, though not exclusively for ARL librarians, will heavily focus on the academic and research environment.
