Association of Research Libraries

A flat fee structure, rather than a per person fee, was created for sponsored institutes and custom events to encourage libraries and consortia to sponsor learning events for larger numbers of staff. This structure takes into account the shared responsibility, between ARL and the hosting organization, for marketing the event and coordinating local arrangements. In this relationship, the hosting organization is responsible for local logistics, including participant registration and meeting facilities. The flat fee is less expensive per participant compared to the individual registration fee, and this savings is magnified by not including participant travel costs.

The flat fee structure includes ARL faculty preparation and on-site training time and all institute materials. Facilitator expenses, which include costs directly associated with delivery of the event, are not included in this fee.
