Lisa Carter is the Head of the Special Collections Research Center at North Carolina State University Libraries. She is leading the integration of special collections into the overall collections, service, digital library, and public space programs of the libraries in support of the teaching, learning, and research mission of the university.
Lisa previously served as the Director of Archives at the University of Kentucky Libraries’ Special Collections and Digital Programs. She has provided consultation on a variety of digital and audiovisual archive projects, most notably receiving an NHPRC Archival Research Fellowship for her work with Kentucky Educational Television in 2003. She is an active member of the Society of American Archivists, Midwest Archives Conference, and the Association of Moving Image Archivists.
Lisa's research interests, in addition to the issues involved in preserving and digitizing media, include changing archival practice to more effectively expose hidden primary source collections to enrich teaching, learning, and research.
