Robin L. Chandler joined the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Libraries in January 2008 as Director, Digital Library Program Office. Before she came to UCSD, she served at the California Digital Library (CDL) of the University of California Office of the President from 2000 to 2007, first as Manager of the Online Archive of California and subsequently as Director of Data Acquisitions, where she was responsible for coordinating the University of California’s participation in mass digitization projects. Prior to CDL, she was head of Archives and Special Collections for UC San Francisco’s Library and Center for Knowledge Management from 1995 to 2000, where she also managed the library’s Tobacco Control Archives. She has also served as Archivist for the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, Library, Archives and History Office, as a Manuscript and Archives Specialist for the Stanford University Department of Special Collections; and as a Photo Archivist for the National Maritime Museum in San Francisco. Chandler earned a master of arts degree in American history at San Francisco State University in 1997, and her master of library and information sciences degree at UC Berkeley in 1990. She attended the Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education in 2003. In 2005, she earned the California Heritage Preservation Commission’s 2005 Archivist of Excellence Award.
