Catherine Davidson has been Associate University Librarian for Collections at York University Libraries since 2004. She brings a public-service perspective to the position, having spent the previous 16 years serving variously as a reference librarian, electronic resources librarian, and selector at York’s Scott Library. As AUL, she works both with the library admin team to develop strategic library directions and then in turn with six departmental reports, including Technical Services, Resource Sharing, Library Accessibility Services (for users with disabilities), and the Clara Thomas Archives and Special Collections.

Catherine has held an abiding interest in assessment of collections and is looking forward to being able to explore this in more depth when she begins her sabbatical on August 1, 2009. At that time, she will join colleagues on the Ontario Council of University Libraries’ Scholars Portal team to work on various projects relating to evaluation.

Previously, Catherine attended the Harvard Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians. She holds an MLS from the University of Toronto and a BA in English literature from the University of Western Ontario.
