Mary Ann Mavrinac Bio

Mary Ann Mavrinac has been the Chief Librarian, University of Toronto Mississauga since 2001, having worked in academic libraries for over 20 years in public service and administrative capacities. Prior to coming to the University of Toronto, she was the Head of the D. B. Weldon Library, the University of Western Ontario. While in London, she was the Vice Chair of the London Public Library Board, experiencing a major capital project renaissance for that system.

While at U of T, Mary Ann led the development of a credit course, now called “Foundations of Information Studies.” With many people and many teams, she led the library from vision through to occupancy of a $34M capital project for a new academic library, the Hazel McCallion Academic Learning Centre, which opened in October 2006.

Mary Ann has an MLS from the University of Western Ontario. She recently completed an EdD in educational leadership and change, Fielding Graduate University, pursuing this degree through distance learning. She is active in the profession through conference presentations, workshop facilitation, publications, and association roles.
