Catherine Steeves has been the Associate Chief Librarian for Information Technology Services for the University of Guelph Library since 2004. Previously she worked as the ITS Operations Manager for the University of Alberta Libraries. In her current role, Catherine is accountable for the administration of the library’s information technology programs, services and resources, the scholarly communications program, and academic liaison services. She shares joint responsibility for the leadership of the library’s organizational development, strategic planning, policy development, and human and financial resource allocation with the Associate Chief Librarian for User Services and the CIO & Chief Librarian.
Catherine is committed to serving the profession of librarianship. She is currently on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Library Association and is a past board member of the Ontario Library Association and a Past-President of the Ontario Library Information Technology Association. She has also served on the Canadian Association of College and University Libraries Executive Council.
Catherine holds an MLIS from the University of Western Ontario and a BA from McGill University. She has been a participant in and facilitator for the Northern Exposure to Leadership Institute and also has attended the Harvard-ACRL Higher Education Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians. She looks forward to the opportunities the ARL Research Library Leadership Fellows Program will provide to explore the rapidly changing landscape of research libraries and strategies for organizational development with the 2009–10 fellows and ARL leaders.
