ARL is now soliciting nominations for the 2012 Library Assessment Career Achievement Award, which will be presented at the Library Assessment Conference in Charlottesville, Virginia, this October. The criteria are simple:
- Substantial contributions to effective, sustainable, and practical library assessment as evidenced through presentations/publications, methods, service, advocacy, and other work
- Retired from full-time work or anticipated retirement by December 31, 2013
Nominations should be sent to laconf@arl.org by August 24, 2012, with a maximum one paragraph description of the individual’s contributions to library assessment.
Awardees will be provided travel (including two nights lodging) and registration expenses to attend the 2012 Library Assessment Conference.
At the 2010 Library Assessment Conference in Baltimore, Gordon Fretwell (University of Massachusetts), Roswitha Poll (Munster University), and Kendon Stubbs (University of Virginia) were honored with the Library Assessment Career Achievement Award for their contributions to furthering the practice of effective, practical, and sustainable library assessment. They were recognized for their instrumental roles in redefining and standardizing library statistics to achieve greater consistency and relevance. They joined a distinguished group with inaugural awardees Amos Lakos, Shelley Phipps, and Duane Webster from the 2008 conference.
