ARL-SAA Digital Archives Specialist Courses 2014 Open for Registration

digital-archives-specialist-das-logoRegistration is open for the Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) courses being offered by ARL and the Society of American Archivists (SAA) at several ARL member libraries in 2014. You do not need to work at an ARL library to register for these courses—they are open to all librarians and archivists.

Do you want to develop your skills for appraising, capturing, preserving, and providing access to born-digital special collections? Could you use some insight into working with donors? Would you like to grow your community of colleagues, especially those located in your region? Register for one or more of the courses being offered near you.

Courses

ARL and SAA have designed a weeklong immersion in four core courses of the DAS program for ARL library staff to take alongside their peers. Registration is per course—participants are not required to sign up for the whole week but are offered a package discount if they do. The four courses being offered are:

  • Digital Archives and Libraries
  • Digital Curation: Creating an Environment for Success
  • Preserving Digital Archives
  • Digital Forensics (two days)

Locations & Dates in Early 2014

The special weeklong offering of the four DAS courses will be held at each of the following locations in early 2014:

  • Syracuse University: March 10–14
  • University of Alberta: April 21–25
  • Emory University: May 19–23
  • University of Minnesota: June 9–13

The courses will be offered at a few additional ARL institutions later in 2014, locations and dates to be determined.

Early-bird registration prices—valid until four weeks prior to the start date at each location—are based on the registrant’s status as one of the following:

  • SAA member: $189/day
  • Employee of an SAA institutional member: $219/day
  • Employee of an ARL member institution: $224/day or $179/day if all four courses are taken via a “co-sponsor promotion” (a $25/day or $45/four courses discount from the non-member price)—contact Judy Ruttenberg for the co-sponsor promotion registration code.
